Intervier: Daydream Machine (English)

1-Where you from?

As individuals, we have all roamed the countryside and cityscapes of western, central and the eastern United States. As Daydream Machine, we are firmly rooted in Portland, OR, except, of course, when we're dreaming

2-Could you describe the music project?

We are just following the sounds down the holes they create. Harmony, euphony, repetition and cacophony, there are no rules, on inspiration and dedication.

3-How this project was born?

Like so many others, in a basement. Of the six, we'd all played together before in various combinations going back eleven years or so.

4- How many albums do you have?

Between the six of us? Thousands. Daydream Machine's debut album, Twin Idols, is coming out in the beginning of 2014 on Picture in My Ear records. We have a self release EP as well that can be downloaded from our Bandcamp page.

5-Do you Work in the independently way?

We work independently, sure, but we are very much a group, working together. Perhaps you mean "are we getting paid for this?" Isn't all art truly independent now?

6-What are some of your favorite bands?

I can't answer that for everyone, but I'll give you a few of mine- Spacemen 3, the Cure, Mazzy Star, New Order, Mercury Rev and the Jesus and Marychain.

7-What are the bands goal for 2014?

Keep playing great shows, promote our record and start making another one!

8- What things do you need to improve?

There is always something improve. If its perfect, it's time to stop.

9- What is your opinion regarding the world economic situation?

I think there are some really brave kids out there trying hard to change things, I'm talking about Brazil, Egypt, Turkey, Greece.. I think a global revolution is coming.... To quote one of me favorite lyricists, Jarvis Cocker, "We won't use guns, we won't use bombs, We'll use the one thing we've got more of - that's our minds."

10 - What is your opinion regarding illegal music downloads ?

I don't think its ripping off musicians anymore than Pandora or Spotifiy is. I am not sure why music has become so devalued in our society. it feels like its the lowest form of art. Do I want people to pay for record like they used to? Of course, and I think the increasing numbers of vinyl sales suggest there are people who do value music as an art form.

11-Did you download illegal music?

Ha!
We have a Single coming out in the next week in advance of our album. Its call led "Queen of the Gas Station."
